Final school newsletter (June Part 2)
    by P. Hembling - Thursday, 29 June 2017, 3:09 PM

Please find attached to this post the final newsletter of the year for Bert Edwards Science & Technology School.  A paper copy of the first two pages of this newsletter was sent home with all students at the same time that Report Cards were distributed today.

Anyone who did not pick up their child's final report card, please make arrangements to do so before noon July 7, 2017.

Have a fantastic summer break everyone.  September will come before you know it!

Final day of school for students - Thursday, June 29
    by P. Hembling - Wednesday, 28 June 2017, 2:07 AM

As was communicated in the June newsletter, the final day of school for students is Thursday, June 29th.  The day will start at the normal time of 8:30am, but students will be dismissed early on this day at 12:00pm sharp.  Final report cards will be handed out by teachers in classrooms just prior to the 12pm dismissal time.

Our final assembly will be happening in the gymnasium at 10:30am.  Parents are welcome to join us for this final assembly, which will feature our Grade 6 Leaving Ceremony (school completion certificates will be distributed to Grade 6 students, followed by a Grade 6 student slide-show) as well as awards for intermediate students.

Please remember that students must empty out lockers/cubbies prior to departure for summer on Thursday, June 29.  Please ensure your child has an extra bag or two with which to bring all his or her belongings home on that day.

Lost and Found items have been spread out on tables in the hallway outside the gymnasium.  Parents, please have a look at these items as they will be donated to charity if not claimed by the end of the day on Thursday, June 29.

Thank you to all our parents for your support over the 2016-2017 school year, and we hope you have an enjoyable and rejuvenating summer break!

Big Little Science Centre June Newsletter
    by P. Hembling - Sunday, 18 June 2017, 4:02 PM

Please see attached to this post the June, 2017 newsletter from the Big Little Science Centre.

Featured in the newsletter is info on some great summer camp opportunities for your kids (all ages, K and up!) as well as neat articles / photo-essays on Thigmotropisms in the Mimosa plant and the amazing uses of wings - thanks to Gordon Gore for sharing his expertise on these and other subjects.

It's worth a read just for the Donald Trump joke on the last page.  :)

The newsletter is also available on the BLSC website at
