Parents, just a few reminders as we approach spring break.
We are doing a locker cleanout on Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child has an extra bag (or bags) in order to take home school materials, gym strip, winter jackets, boots, gloves, hats... the list goes on. No doubt the weather will be much warmer in two weeks when we return.
Please also check the lost and found for any items your child may have lost or left behind. Any items still remaining after the break will be donated to good will.
Although school will not be in session for two weeks, there are many things families can do to support their kids over the holiday with learning. Here are some tips:
1. Maintain some routines. This will also help make the transition back to school easier.
2. Experts say children should read at least 30 minutes per day over holidays to avoid falling behind. This can be books, comic books, newspapers, etc. Whatever they have an interest in! For younger children who are just learning to read, read with them or have them 'practice' reading. Set aside time each evening to set up a daily reading routine.
3. Mathletics - Most classes at BEST subscribe to Mathletics. Students can continue to work on math skills from home over the internet.
4. LearnNowBC - an online site that has many resources for parents and kids, including advice and tutoring.
More information on activities over Spring Break can also be found on the School District 73 website. Check the links under "District News."
Have a relaxing break and enjoy the family time. We will see you on March 30!
