Welcome back!

Welcome back to the new school year at BEST.  We hope everyone has enjoyed their summer holidays and that students are excited to be coming back to school.  The staff at BEST is certainly excited to see all your smiling faces!

Tuesday, September 8th is the first day of school for students, although the day follows a modified schedule as is the case at all district elementary schools.  Full details can be found on the district website at http://www3.sd73.bc.ca/education/content/back-school.

The start time for all students on Tuesday is 10:30am (except Kindergarten students - please read on for K schedule details).  We will begin with an assembly in the gymnasium for staff introductions and class placement which will happen at that time.  Parents are welcome to join us for this initial assembly at 10:30.

Following the assembly students will proceed with their teacher to their new classroom and classes will continue until our 12:00pm dismissal.

Kindergarten students follow a modified schedule of "graduated entry" and received a letter in August detailing interview dates and times, small group sessions as well as larger group sessions.  The first full day for all Kindergarten students will be Wednesday, September 16th.  Please call the school if you have any questions or if you did not receive this letter in the mail.

The school supplies your child will need this year are available from the school at very reasonable prices (likely better than what you could find on your own because we purchase in bulk); there is no need for parents to purchase them in advance.  We even have a monthly payment plan for parents who may prefer that option.  Please speak to your child's teacher for more details or inquire at the office.

Parents are welcome to park anywhere around the perimeter of the school except in the zones reserved for buses and daycare vehicles.  We ask parents not to use the school's parking lot for pickup or dropoff of students for safety reasons, particularly at the start and end of the school day.  Your cooperation in following parking signage is appreciated.

Again, welcome back to school and we look forward to meeting you and your child this week!
